Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an intriguing game. While it looks like a step up from Assassin’s Creed Origins, which turned out a year ago, it, for some reason, appears to be so different from Origins that numerous fans are asking why Ubisoft didn’t simply turn it into its own spinoff.
To attempt and relieve some of those worries, Jonathan Dumont completed an AMA on Reddit, where he uncovered the game’s position in the series’s lore: it will be about how the bits of Eden came into the men’s hands, and the game will incorporate references to other Assassin’s games.
That aside, the game will have no usable shields, it will have fleshed out sailing mechanics, but that won’t be a concentration, it will have a greater map than Origins (however 50% of that is the ocean), more raw materials than Origins, a dynamic climate, and seven unique biomes. The game will have, generally, intentionally hidden materials, rather than random drops.
We have a lot to be excited about with this new release, and whether or not the game truly ‘fits in’ with the rest of the series, it’s sure to be an awesome addition to the Assassin’s Creed Empire.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 5, 2018.
