Two years ago engineer WayForward Technologies went all super-sharp sprites with 2016’s Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero, they de-fueled their mysterious maven and transformed her into a pirate. Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is a standout amongst the most fulfilling 2D platformers around, and it’s out on Switch.
On the off chance that you’ve not played Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, 3DS, Wii U or Steam (where it has an “overwhelmingly positive” surveys show), you’re in for a treat. Stripped of her genie enchantment following the occasions of 2010’s Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, the now human Shantae collaborates with her foe, Risky Boots, receiving the devices of the pirate exchange (weapons, swords, ham) to spare the world yet again. It’s an awesome blend of puzzle solving and hitting things with hair, with a magnificently evil sense of humor to boot.
The gameplay isn’t completely unique, yet Pirate’s Curse does a great job of encapsulating the Metroidvania platformer. Rather than one giant environment, Shantae must investigate six smaller islands. With interesting adversaries and natural risks, every island had an unmistakable vibe that kept the game interesting. With a combination of concealed things to find, including discretionary fights that specifically decide if you get the great or terrible closure, there is absolutely a push to investigate as much as you can. In any case, by spreading the activity crosswise over six separate areas and plainly showing what number of privileged insights are as yet unfamiliar at each, the errand never appeared to be all that difficult. The littler, more engaged approach kept us locked in.
The third Shantae game is the greatest yet! Past Sequin Land lie cursed islands and mazes each concealing another bit of Pirate Gear – Flintlock Pistol, Pirate Hat, Scimitar, Risky’s Boots, and even a Cannon. Update Shantae’s hair and weapons or discover propelled Fighter’s Moves. Find maps, return lost Heart Squids, gather treasure, and roar with laughter at the bizarre, wild, and brilliantly amusing cast of characters. Incredible high-definition artwork, unlockable Pirate-Mode, various endings, and a life-changing soundtrack make this one game you won’t have any desire to miss!
